it's that time again! glen's annual xmas xtravaganza will grace the stage of b.b. king's blues nightclub in new york city for two performances only - friday dec 12 at 8pm and again on saturday dec 13th, 2003, also at 8pm. as with years past, there will be many special guests performing all your  holiday favorites, and some new christmas-classics-in-the-making. past years performers include patty smyth, phoebe snow, syd straw, patti smith, marshall crenshaw, john waite, styx, and many others. you never know what musical notables will show up from year to year, but it's well worth the price of admission just to hear the lovely and incredibly talented antonique smith, and of course mr. burtnik himself will be all over the place. proceeds will again go to the food banks of new jersey and new york city (so be sure to bring some canned food or warm winter clothing to donate), and tickets are on sale now - get them before they're gone!

to answer the many inquiries we've been getting regarding glen's longtime friend and fellow new jersey musician bernie brausewetter, who suffered a heart attack back in late january: bernie is doing much better, currently is recouperating at home, and is looking forward to getting back onstage soon....

..hopefully in time for the next live performance of the slaves of new brunswick, coming very very soon! details to follow..

speaking of glen's slaves of new brunswick project, their critically acclaimed self-titled cd is available right now through war bride records - just send $14 + $4 shipping/handling to:

war bride music
po box 296
milltown, nj 08850

glen's newest solo cd is called 'welcome to hollywood' - with a tentative release date of february 2004. it's being released by atenzia records in germany, but should be available in the states as well. we'll have all the details of how you can purchase it here on this very website, so stay tuned!

as for the status of the cd, recording is (for the most part) finished, and it is in the mixing stage. the cd will recall the big-hair 80s song stylings that glen is most famous for, but with a definite modern rock feel. long story short - it rocks!

more updates coming soon....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jan 21: Those who have been patiently awaiting a new Glen Burtnik solo release can whet their appetites with a newly-written-and-recorded Burtnik tune due to be released in the month of March.

The song is called "WINDOW OF THE WORLD", and was inspired by the Sept 11th tragedies. According to Glen, it's a 'pretty simple recording' with only 2 acoustic guitars, bass, congas, Hammond organ, and vocals, and features performances by Plinky (keyboards), Jimmy Leahey (guitar), Dave Anthony (percussion), Nancy Sebastian (backing vocals), and Glen (vocals and guitar).

The song will appear on a charity CD, tentatively titled "Jersey Jams - Jersey Cares", that is (again, tentativeley) scheduled to be released on March 11, 2002. The CD, profits from which will help benefit the 580 New Jersey familiies who lost loved ones in the World Trade Center tragedy, will feature numerous Jersey-area artists and bands.

Glen is on tour with Styx again! See the tour dates page for details!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May 22: Two-thirds of the Burtnikville Web Team have just returned from seeing Styx in both Oklahoma City and Dallas, and we STILL aren't 100% recovered! It was our first chance to see the new show, new setlist, new stage setup, and new opening sequence - suffice to say that we are in awe.

Of course, we're a bit biased, but we think the Dallas show was probably THE single best concert we've ever seen. Glen is a literal whirlwind of activity, and somehow manages to play nearly flawless basslines while running and jumping and spinning all over the new stage set (as well as through the audience!)

You've GOT to see this show!

Special webmaster's note: Be SURE that you don't miss the show's opening sequence. It ROCKS!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May 11: The new Styx/BadCo/Squier/Stark tour is OFF AND RUNNING! Check out the Tour Dates page!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 28: At a press conference held today at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, the members of Styx announced details of their 2001 tour.

Also, in a question-and-answer session afterwards, the band revealed the following:

* Chuck said he'll be playing in 80% of the shows this tour.

* They have changed the setlist around somewhat, and Glen will most likely be singing "Little Suzie".

* A new CD entitled "StyxWorld" will be released through CMC International by the end of June. It will be primarily live tracks that were recorded outside of the US, including versions of "A Criminal Mind" and "Love Is The Ritual", as well as some new studio tracks.

* Styx's ROCKLINE appearance last night was 'bumped' due to unforseen circumstances with the Rockline people. They will, however, be appearing on Rockline on Wednesday, April 18.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Styx will be on Rockline this Wednesday, March 28, LIVE from the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, OH. Fans who come to see the Jackie DeShannon show with Glen Burtnik are invited to hang around and watch the broadcast. Styx's 'Tour Announcement' Press Conference is scheduled for 1:30 Wednesday Afternoon, and it is also open to the public.

DeShannon wrote the Kim Carnes hit "Bette Davis Eyes" and 60s hit "Needles and Pins", as well as her own hit recordings of "What The World Needs Now Is Love Sweet Love" and "Put A Little Love In Your Heart". The performance (billed as "An Evening With Jackie DeShannon and Glen Burtnik") follows a children's songwriting workshop hosted by DeShannon. Tickets are only $15 for the show, but the workshop is FREE! For more information, see JackieDeShannon.Com and RockHall.Com.
